Bone Augmentation Methods/Bone Powders
What is a sinus lift procedure?
There are air spaces called sinuses in the upper jaw. The sinuses in the upper jaw posterior region can become enlarged/saggy due to normal or long-term toothlessness. In order to obtain adequate bone support before or during implant surgeries planned for these areas, the sinus membrane may need to be moved upwards and the created space filled with bone powder and covered with protective membranes if necessary. This procedure is called a sinus lift.
What is a crest split?
In bones that have sufficient height but not enough width, the width of the jawbone is increased by making incisions on the top of the bone and, if necessary, on the side walls, using special tools. Bone width can also be increased by using bone powder between two bone plates that are moving away from each other, if necessary.
Autogenous Grafting
In the presence of insufficient bone level, this deficiency can be repaired with many different surgical techniques. If the bone used during this repair is taken from the patient himself, this procedure is called autogenous grafting. Most of the patients:
From the chin tip area
From the Ramus region
From newly constructed shooting areas
From the tubercle area (the most posterior part of the upper jaw)
From the iliac (hip bone) region
Bone repair procedures can be performed by taking the patient's own bones.
Synthetic Grafting
In the presence of insufficient bone level, this deficiency can be repaired with many different surgical techniques. During this repair, synthetic bone powders can also be used externally. These bone powders are mostly of bovine origin and are used in different sizes according to the suitability of the case.
