General Anesthesia and Sedation

general anesthesia and sedation

What is Sedation?

Sedation is the process of administering an anesthetic to the body through various routes (inhalation, intravenous injection, or oral administration), resulting in a semi-conscious state and reducing pain sensations. Patients do not remember what happened during the procedure.

Who Can Get Sedation?

Sedation can be safely performed on patients who are otherwise healthy but are experiencing extreme anxiety or fear. Patients undergoing sedation must be accompanied by at least one companion.

What is General Anesthesia?

General anesthesia is a state of complete unconsciousness in which all motor and sensory functions of the body are completely lost. Patients do not feel any pain during the procedure and have no memory of the experience.

Who Can Undergo General Anesthesia?

Before general anesthesia is administered, the patient's necessary blood tests and respiratory functions are examined by a specialist anesthesiologist, and general anesthesia can be applied under operating room conditions in every patient group approved by the doctor.
