Bone Augmentation Methods

What is a Sinus Lift Procedure?
Air spaces called sinuses are located within the upper jaw. The sinuses, located in the posterior region of the upper jaw, can become enlarged/prolapsed, either naturally or due to prolonged edentulousness. To ensure adequate bone support before or during implant surgery in these areas, the sinus membrane may need to be elevated, the resulting space filled with bone graft, and, if necessary, covered with protective membranes. This procedure is called a sinus lift.
What is a Crest Split?
In cases where bones have sufficient height but lack sufficient width, incisions are made at the top of the bone and, if necessary, along the side walls, and the width of the jawbone is increased using specialized instruments. Bone powder can also be used between two diverging bone plates to increase bone width when necessary.
Autogenous Grafting
Inadequate bone density can be repaired using a variety of surgical techniques. When the bone used in this repair is taken from the patient's own body, this procedure is called autogenous grafting. Patients often:
From the chin tip area
From the ramus (jaw corner) region
From newly constructed shooting areas
From the tuber region (the most posterior part of the upper jaw)
Bone repair procedures can be performed by taking the patient's own bones from the iliac (hip bone) region.
Synthetic Grafting
Inadequate bone density can be repaired using a variety of surgical techniques. Synthetic bone powders can also be used externally. These are usually of bovine or human origin and come in various sizes, depending on the specific case.
